What’s the quickest way to relieve an external hemorrhoid?

I have had internal hemorrhoids off and on since I gave birth 9 years ago. But this week I have a very uncomfortable "lump" you-know-where. There’s no bleeding, but it hurts to sit and even bothers me when I walk around. I’m assuming it’s just an external hemorrhoid. I haven’t seen it, just felt it (with a gloved finger of course!). What’s the quickest way to relieve the discomfort? I used a suppository this morning, which always seems to work for the internal ones, but it’s not helping much for this one.

Hemorrhoids are usually caused by too much pressure on your bowel, this means if you constantly strain when you go to the toilet, the risk of hemorrhoids is increased. For the short term you could try taking a laxative, but for the long term you need to start eating food that is high in fibre.

You can also try applying an Aloe Vera cream to the area, as Aloe Vera has a lot of natural properties for healing and keeping skin healthy.

    Dip a cotton ball in witch hazel and apply it to the hemorrhoid every time you go to the bathroom, rather you pee or have a bowel movement. You can also dip a cotton ball in white vinegar if you don’t have witch hazel. Good Luck!
