Popped hemorrhoid or boil?

Okay, so I’ve had hemorrhoids for a few years now, know all the remedies, precautions, etc. I’ve had to completely change my lifestyle to accommodate for the symptoms and what not. Well this morning I was having my usual bowel movement, and when I was done, I noticed an excessive amount of blood; I panicked.
I continued to wipe and noticed there was a lot until I got most of it. I quickly hopped in the shower, cleaned and examined. Do hemorrhoids pop or was this a boil? I was gently trying to squeeze anything out of the "popped" area and I noticed it was either sticky red skin or maybe some sort of puss that was coming off or out of the area.
After I got out I dried the area as best I could and applied some Prep H. Other than that I’m not sure what to do (already have a doctors appointment scheduled). I’m not in much pain and I actually feel better; prior to this about three days I noticed my hemorrhoid was at the biggest it has ever been, but it is almost at its normal size now. Will it continue to bleed or does it eventually heal over like a normal cut? I’m going to continue to clean the area every so often with alcohol so it doesn’t get infected.

2010 Jul 27 1it was a hemorrhoid, do not squeeze it, hemorrhoids are also not only on the outside of the anus, they are also found inside the intestinal tract, as well. a hemorrhoid is like a varicose vein, but in the intestinal area. they can burst an bleed. they never heal on their own, they get bad, start to get better, get bad again, and so on. you have to have surgery in order to remove the hemorrhoids. i hope you feel better soon, but think about the surgery, it really works.
